A Reading of Naomi Iizuka's Newest Work
The Department of Theatre cordially invites you to attend a reading of Naomi Iizuka’s Good Kids, directed by Professor Henson Keys. Good Kids explores a casual sexual encounter gone wrong, and its very public aftermath. The play responds to actual events that generated a national conversation. A talk back will be hosted and moderated by Dr. Valleri Robinson, Director of Graduate Studies in Theatre, directly following the reading to discuss the issues encountered in the play.
Good Kids is part of the Big Ten Consortium’s New Play Initiative, which commissions, presents, and produces a series of new plays by female playwrights. All of these new plays will contain significant roles for women of college age. Naomi Iizuka head of playwriting at the University of California–San Diego and one of the nation’s most acclaimed dramatists, was chosen for the inaugural project. Iizuka’s play, Polaroid Stories, runs concurrently as a production of Illinois Theatre.
Please join us for this thought-provoking event on Saturday, October 4, at 2 p.m. in the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts on Level 2 in the Drama Rehearsal Room.
